About Me

Welcome to Curriculum For Autism!

I’m Kirsten, a former teacher and mum to 3 adult children, one of whom was diagnosed with severe autism at 2 years old. The doctor who diagnosed my son said he’d never speak or learn anything, and advised that there was no point in trying to teach my son. I chose to ignore that advice, thankfully! My son still has many challenges (particularly sensory) but has made greater progress than anyone predicted. He describes himself smart and handsome. He loves music and arithmetic, and he keeps me right when I forget to do chores.

The purpose of Curriculum For Autism is to help teachers, parents and therapists find affordable, quality teaching resources which meet the needs of kids & teens with autism. When I began teaching my son I soon realised that many mainstream educational resources & activities were too ‘busy’ for him- the pages were too crowded or too bright. So I made my own resources for him, some from scratch and some were adapted from my own home-made classroom resources.

I often get asked if I sell a whole curriculum. The reason I do not, is that our kids and young people are all different, with different skills and challenges. A child might excel in math, but find reading difficult. They might have great receptive language skills, but find expressive language more difficult. Therefore, all my resources are sold individually so that you only need to buy what you require for the needs of your individual learners.

When you purchase a resource from Curriculum For Autism you are purchasing a pdf file to download & print. No hard goods will be shipped to you. After your purchase you will receive an email with a link to each pdf file. You will need to download the files within 24 hours. Your purchase is for single classroom or home use only. Please contact me for a quote for multiple licenses.
